This is not the NIHL. After some confusion between the
Super Series and NIHL being the same event, the Super Series started
and players got a fast and exciting format. Four weekend
mini tournaments spread over a 5 month period with divisions based
on experience to encourage participation and better competition.
The Tampines Millennium Court and the National Inline Hockey League
(NIHL) was created and organized by Tampines Central CC in 2000/01/02
and IHS (Inline Hockey Singapore) managed the 2002 NIHL.
In April, constituency reorganization meant that all sports including
inline skating would become the responsibility of the CSC. A inline
hockey committee was formed and they got to work to organize the colander
of events and at the same time proposed the Super Series format of
games to become and be known as the NIHL Championships. After responsible
for the building of the Millennium Court and development of the NIHL
from inception in 2000, Patrick Tan announced that the NIHL must remain
as “the National Inline Hockey League” to maintain credibility
and consistency and therefore recommendation was made for the original
NIHL committee members to, once again, organize the NIHL 2003. It
was then decided to form the Inline Skating Executive committee to
facilitate the increasing number of inline skating activities and
events held at the Millennium court. It was then decided by the Inline
Skating Executive Committee ISEC that the NIHL be organized by a sub
committee of players who would report to the ISEC for assistance and
support.
The CSC inline hockey committee had already organized and promoted
the Super Series event as the “NIHL Championships with banners
and the NIHL website reflecting this. After several follow meetings,
it was agreed that all banners, website and other promotional materials
showing “NIHL Championships must be withdrawn by August 26th
2003 and an official NIHL schedule must be organized.
The “Super Series” games continued on and the players
played, meanwhile the organizers prepared to offer all players and
interested supporters a professional structure and management team
to develop the sport. |
