The Final - Monotoners VS Warriors |
7
adult teams, 4 junior teams, 29 games, under clear blue
sky. Hot Fast and exciting with the added sun tan made
for a great weekend at the Mission Cup 2007, Tampines
Millennium Court.
From day one, Monotoners made a clear run for the final
position winning all games. NTU and Bench Warmers where
the surprise teams coming up with some great battles for
points in games against SkateSports, Underdogs Malaysia
and Warriors. At the end of day one, the points stacked
up quickly for Montoners as they knocked out their competitors
in every game putting them top of the table with 18 points
to the finals .Results>>
Warriors (Strikers/Piranhas combo team) played hard however
lost the first game to Monotoners then a draw with SkateSports
after a lengthy time delay cause by a fight (Below). With
one player out of the tournament, they fought on to win
13 points and the spot in the final with Monotoners.
ON SUNDAY....After 4 more round robin
games on Sunday morning the junior teams where scheduled
to play at 1300hrs. A misinterpretation of that for being
0300pm meant that Flaming Knights 1 & 2 failed to
show leaving the War Devils and Maple Flames to play a
couple friendly matches and gaining 3 points each from
the walk over games. War Devils when on to win against
Flaming Knights 2 (14-1) and the Maple Flames took down
the Flaming Knights 1 (5-4) in a close match without Goalies.
(just for fun)
3rd & 4th Placing....The seniors
games then kicked into full swing with the fight for positions
in the 3rd and 4th playoff up between 3 teams all close
on points and success in the games. NTU missed out by
only 1 point leaving Bench Warmers VS SkateSports for
the 3rd & 4th place game. After a hard and fast game
(below), 2 all draw half time, 3 all draw full time...Steve
popped the shot to secure SkateSports Bronze Medal.
The Final
It was Monotoners and Warriors all the way. In the cool
of the evening they two teams took to task setting up
and firing in the goals. A combined total of 13 goals
in 25 minutes saw both teams scrambling to cover de fence
against the other in a barrage of fire however Monotoners
demonstrated the superior power and shooting accuracy
putting in 9 against Warriors 4 to become Mission Cup
Champions 2007!
See ya next year!!
Notes -
Warriors player Banned from Mission Cup
Player, "Alex Koh" was penalized by referee
"Steven" for hooking however Warrior players
took matters into their own hands starting a fight. Kelvin
Lee raised his stick and slashed Alex while laying on
the court covering his head and Danny Seah accepted responsibility
for kicking Alex in the head. Both players were ejected
from the game and Kevin banned from the tournament. The
organizers condone such behavior regardless of the preceding
actions - "the referees whistle and decision is final"
No player has the right to take matters into their own
hands by assaulting another player. The future of your
sport depends on your actions today.
SkateSports VS Bench Warmers
The team. Iggy and Hans booked out from the Arm, Izan
making a come back and the rest of the team being new
young guns with fitness and speed. SkateSports, Daniel
Chan (ex SkateSports team mate now studying in Canada),
and Tim Poon (Canada) flew in and joined with Steve (ex
British Roller player), Dave (USA) and the SkateSports
Coaches to for the Mission Cup. But it was this game,
the decider of 3rd & 4th that they all anticipated.
SkateSports lead the point score early however BenchWarmers
fought back. By half time it was 2 all and both teams
still had plenty more power in them. Some great exchanges
of fire power, passing breakouts and hard play resulted
in a 3 all draw at full time. After a 2 minute rest they
came back for the 5 minute sudden death, one attach from
Bench Warmers immediately from face off...shot on goal....then
SkateSports took possession, broke out and let go a shot
on goal. A few exchanges later once again Steve and the
Jack attacked and the shot on goal was blocked then with
a quick recovery and different angle Steve made another
approach shot low and ..... there you have it, SkateSports
3rd place. |

Go Hard or Go Home |
Arguably
the player's favorite tourney of the year (talk first-
fight later) the MISSION CUP ROCKed the Tampines Millennium
Court on the 10th and 11th of March.
"Go Hard or Go Home", the slogan
says it all. With team "UnderDogs" from Malaysia,
plus a bench full of import players within the teams,
this years MIHC should be kick ass...AGAIN! Too bad that
the team from Japan emailed me just this week otherwise
they could have caused some damage and upsets on the table
too.... never mind we'll get them next year!
So lay it out. The games will started on Saturday 12 till
8pm. 12.5 minutes each half with a 2 minute change over,
no time outs, no time delays just Go Hard!
Saturday night. Show the guest players a good time at
the "Bungee Bar". Sink a few beers maybe a little
rest (for the pussy cats), then an early riser will get
the easy goals when games commence 10am on Sunday morning.
