Happy New Year to all Members
With the record number of local and overseas competitions that Singapore players joined and the increased interest from local youth and women players, 2003 was the biggest year for Inline Hockey in Singapore. 2004 promises even more opportunity for local players to compete overseas however the AIHS Committee has vowed to focus the majority it's efforts and resources to the grass roots development of Hockey in Singapore. Besides being the co founders and committee members of the National Inline Hockey League (NIHL) AIHS committee members were co organizers of the first teams from Singapore to compete in major overseas tournaments such as the 2002 Oceania (New Zealand), YMCA CUP (Hong Kong 01-02-03) and sending two junior teams to the World Inline Cup 2003 (Canada). They recognize that although competing in overseas tournaments and World Championships is an essential element in the future recognition of Inline Hockey Singapore and the long term success of Singapore Teams, that more players, officials, funding and related resources are needed.

"it's simply a numbers game" says AIHS founder Barry Hanson "if we only have a pool of 50 women, 200 men and 300 youth players with only a fraction of these being at competitive level, we have very limited base to choose, make or develop champions. What is needed is a cooperative effort from all skate schools, Associations, players and Government to simply....get more people interested and playing inline hockey. If not, it will be the same faces each year spiked with a few new talents thrown in the mix". he continued.
